Biblical Healing
The Biblical Healing Model
HEALING – THE BEGINNING
Read – Isaiah 61:1
It is the word of God that sets men free. Until we come to the knowledge of Christ we are all bound in sin and forgiveness.
Many post abortive men don’t recognize the bars of bondage – because like each of us, before we became saved, we didn’t realize
that we were prisoners to sin !
GOD’S WORD – THE SOURCE
By applying the word of God we will help men find God’s healing for the emotional pain they are experiencing.
We must rely on God’s Word to do the work, not mans psychology.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us: .. “the Word of God is quick, and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, AND is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Healing is a process.
A post abortive man seeking God through His word will eventually find the freedom he is seeking, IF he persists and doesn’t waver. Depending on his dedication to finding his healing, the process could take months or even years. This Bible study will accelerate that process by focusing on the essential needs of a post abortive man so as to direct him to the specific biblical texts that will lead to a comprehensively timed healing.
By participating in discussions on thoughts, emotions, the “why” of choices and their repercussions, group members reach an understanding of themselves and the power of Christ working in their lives.
GOD THE FATHER – HIS CHARACTER & NATURE
The word continually shows us a kind and loving Father. He is a Holy God who desires to bless His children.
Psalm 145:8-9 says “ The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion
on all He has made.”
While He cares for us greatly, He does require obedience. This is just as much a part of His character as His mercy and grace. This is why is a just God.
ACKNOWLEDGING AN UNGODLY ACT HAS OCCURRED
A post abortive woman or man must face the fact that their participation in an ungodly act was committed. Whether by an act of commission, the actual abortion, or omission, i.e. the man either passively or aggressively pressing for the abortion, it is essential that both recognize that a sinful event has occurred.
That is why He says in I John 1:9 “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE SIN & BE ACCOUNTABLE
After acknowledging the sin, we must be willing to accept the consequences that follow the act. This is where God’s grace will become most evident in our lives as we submit our selves to Him for our healing.
The Word tell us in Psalm 51:4,7 “ against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in our sight. Cleanse me with hyssop and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow.”
UNDERSTANDING AND RECEIVING GOD’S FORGIVENESS
As we approach the conclusion of our healing, His word will reveal the depth of His character of which the core is His love for His children. This all points to the finished work of the cross that Christ accomplished at Calvary.
Ephesians 1:7-8 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavishes on us . . . “
Colossians 1:19 “For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things.”
CONFORMING OUR THOUGHTS TO HIS THOUGHTS
Walking in His forgiveness and freedom requires us to change old habits. Our thought life needs retraining so that we think like God thinks.
Romans 12:2 says: “ do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Romans 8:5: . . “those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires”
II Corinthians 5:17 “ we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
WALK IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE
Just as when we first received Christ as our Savior, walking out from under the cloud of guilt and shame that had attached itself to us, reveals a new freedom. The ability to walk a new path, unhindered by past hurts and sin, allows us to embrace the love of God in a new way, perhaps never before experienced. The desire to serve Him and be obedient to His word takes on new meaning and new life within.
II Corinthians 5:17 – “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a ne creature: the old has gone, the new has come!”
