What 2 expect 2
WHAT TO EXPECT – MEN
- Someone met me at the door with a handshake and a smile…
- I am apprehensive and wondering why I am here…
- I am seated at a round table at the back of the room…
- The music is relaxing and the aroma of dinner is enticing…
- There are two other guys being introduced to the two men who lead this small group. We are all telling each other what we do for a living. It is relaxed and friendly.
Some ladies quietly serve us dinner and it is so good! They are very gracious and treat us like their special guests. Well, this is different, and I wonder what will happen next. I am not going to tell all these people about myself!
Dinner was delicious and dessert was the best. Now someone goes to a keyboard and begins to play soft, but happy music. Then the pianist begins to sing and asks us to join in. Some of us stand and some must be as tired as I am ~ they stay seated. The words are on the wall. We are invited to worship God in the way we feel comfortable.
The director steps up after worship, prays and begins a teaching on Psalm 23. I used to know it but this is so interesting. Boy, are we a lot like sheep! There is humor yet profound truth.
After the teaching the ladies in the room go to private rooms for their small group and we go to a different room. The two men facilitating the small group give the three of us a binder to keep, and a Bible study we will do at home. It says, “Healing a Father’s Heart”. I wonder if that is possible
The two facilitators share a little about their lives and I am surprised how much they are like me! We all discover how much we have in common. Could this really be God? Would He go to this much trouble to help me and could this be what I need, if I need anything? I don’t know, all I know is this feels pretty good, this feels safe, and I feel a little different. I will give it a chance and see if there
